Preview: Seminole Warhawks vs. IMG Academy Blue Ascenders
The Seminole Warhawks will head out on the road to challenge the IMG Academy Blue Ascenders at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Seminole is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Seminole scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 54-41 victory over Largo. The victory was just what Seminole needed coming off of a 58-28 loss in their prior game.
Seminole's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Laney Pearson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Devon Swartz, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Swartz has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Molly Follett, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, IMG Academy Blue pushed their score all the way to 67 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The game between IMG Academy Blue and Venice wasn't particularly close, with IMG Academy Blue falling 81-67. While losing is never fun, IMG Academy Blue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Venice is ranked 78th).
Seminole is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. As for IMG Academy Blue, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Seminole was taken down by IMG Academy Blue 59-30 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Seminole avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
