Softball Recap: Calhoun Cougars vs. Loyola Lady Knights
Calhoun couldn't beat Loyola on Friday even though they stacked six runs on them in the second inning. The Cougars came up short against the Lady Knights, falling 27-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lady Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-3 last Friday.
Anevy Gonzalez-Vasquez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those hits marked the first that she has got this season. Linden Beeman-Fortna was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Loyola, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Coincidentally, Calhoun and Loyola will both be playing Trevor Day the next time they take the field. The Lady Knights will head out to face the Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Cougars will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on the 30th.
