Softball Recap: Harvest Prep Comes Up Short

Harvest Prep extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They came up short against the Fisher Catholic Irish, falling 20-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Irish this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 on April 7th.

As for Fisher Catholic, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Irish, who have now won eight matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Fisher Catholic's part, Olivia Haynes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Haynes was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harper Kline, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Lucy Watkins, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.

Coming up, Harvest Prep is taking a road trip to take on Fairfield Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Fisher Catholic, they will be playing at home against Southern at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
