Softball Recap: Madison Central Comes Up Short

Madison Central extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They came up short against the Cincinnatus Central Lions, falling 13-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 17-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Cincinnatus Central, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Cincinnatus Central's part, they got a massive performance out of Hanna Ellerson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that Ellerson has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Payton Gerrard, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Madison Central will challenge rival Stockbridge Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cincinnatus Central is set to take on their familiar foe Brookfield Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
