Softball Recap: Gaston Bulldogs vs. Cedar Bluff Tigers

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Gaston and Cedar Bluff had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bulldogs lost 14-8 to the Tigers on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 back in March.

Kayleigh Rogers made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jenny Hollinsworth, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Gaston's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Cedar Bluff, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-11.

Coming up, Gaston will be taking part in a tournament against Valley Head at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.04 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
