Preview: Forestview Jaguars vs. Crest Chargers

Forestview is 1-9 against Crest since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Forestview Jaguars are on the road again and play against the Crest Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Forestview has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Forestview scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Bessemer City on the road to the tune of 76-43. That looming 76-43 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Forestview yet this season.

Forestview relied on the efforts of Alex Helton, who scored 22 points along with three steals, and Dashawn Patton, who scored 14 points along with six assists and six steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Aguliar, who scored eight points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Crest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 48-44 to Shelby.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was D'various Surratt, who scored 14 points. Cal Pass jr. was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.

Forestview's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Crest, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Forestview have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Crest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Forestview ended up a good deal behind Crest in their previous matchup back in February, losing 79-62. Thankfully for Forestview, Amarieon Goodlett (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
