Basketball Recap: Macarthur Skates Past Harlandale with Ease

MacArthur waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Harlandale Indians 68-39. The Brahmas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 20 points or more this season.

Faith Thomas was nothing short of spectacular: she went 11 for 17 on her way to 27 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023. Ellie Lee was another key player, going 5 for 12 on her way to 12 points in addition to eight boards and six steals.

MacArthur was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harlandale only posted three assists.

Harlandale's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Julia Barajas, who posted 21 points and three steals, and Adelaide Rios, who put up eight points. Barajas' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

MacArthur's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-7. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points per game. As for Harlandale, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, MacArthur and Harlandale will both be playing Winn the next time they take the court. MacArthur will host Winn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Harlandale will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on January 14th.
