Softball Game Preview: Ransom Everglades Raiders vs. Key West Conchs

The Ransom Everglades Raiders will square off against the Key West Conchs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ransom Everglades is looking for their season's first victory.

Ransom Everglades came up short against Coral Shores on Friday, falling 21-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (ten), the Raiders still had to take the loss.

Addie Rothfield and Lucia Pardo Munoz Ledo did some serious damage despite the final result: Rothfield went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run, while Pardo Munoz Ledo scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jilly Demos-Brown, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Key West). They blew past Mater Bay Academy 20-5 on Wednesday. Considering the Conchs have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brianna Brenner looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Key West got a massive performance out of Tavyn Gage, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-6. The dominant performance also gave Gage a new career-high in RBI (three). Kaleaya Dickerson was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Key West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Key West has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Ransom Everglades, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
