Baseball Recap: Richmond Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Richmond extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping them up to 10-6. They skirted past the Mt. Vernon Marauders 2-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 on Saturday.

Not much got past Zander Juday, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Mt. Vernon off the board. Juday has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jay Burdette was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was J'Lyn Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Mt. Vernon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9. The game marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Mt. Vernon's side, Jaxsen Demos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Demos.

At the plate, Mt. Vernon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Morgan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Richmond wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-0 defeat against Winchester Community on the 7th. Mt. Vernon has also already played their next contest (against New Castle), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
