Softball Recap: King City Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

With a playoff win on the line, King City rose to the challenge on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Balboa Buccaneers with a sharp 14-5 win. Considering the Mustangs have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Alizah Carrillo made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, King City got a massive performance out of Crystal Paramo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four hits gave Paramo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Raylie Moore, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

King City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.

King City has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.7 runs. As for Balboa, they moved to 14-5 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, King City will challenge Biggs at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. Balboa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
