Chase Blattner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Plumstead Christian is 4-1 when Blattner posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Santi Torres was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln Leadership Academy). They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over Valley Forge Baptist Academy on Tuesday. The Lions not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024 (when they won 15-0).
Richardy Fernandez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jose Hernandez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Medina, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs.
Lincoln Leadership Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .756. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Lincoln Leadership Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Plumstead Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Plumstead Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lincoln Leadership Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Plumstead Christian took their win against Lincoln Leadership Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score.
