Softball Game Preview: Denmark Vikings vs. Marinette Marines

The Denmark Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Marinette Marines at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Denmark's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Marinette's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Denmark is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wisconsin's top teams: Fox Valley Lutheran, who was ranked fifth at the time (Denmark was ranked 23rd). The Vikings fell just short of the Foxes by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Marinette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Clintonville.

Marinette's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Denmark, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-6.

Everything went Denmark's way against Marinette in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Denmark made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
