Softball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Memorial's Winning Streak

After flying high against Independence last Tuesday, Memorial came back down to earth. Memorial fell 6-3 to the Emerson Mavericks on Friday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Megan Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Memorial saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reese Carillo, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Memorial moved to 8-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Emerson, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Memorial has already played their next matchup, a 19-2 loss against Liberty on the 17th. As for Emerson, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-2 win against Centennial on the 17th.
