Basketball Game Preview: Provo Bulldogs vs. Salem Hills Skyhawks

Provo is 2-8 against Salem Hills since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m. Provo has given up an average of 57.4 points per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Provo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Spanish Fork with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 76-58. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 62-41 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dons cut but never quite recovered from.

Makai Allen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-7 from deep and almost dropping a double-double with 32 points and nine boards. His evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Callen Tollestrup, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 19 points and six rebounds.

Provo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 33-33 at halftime, Salem Hills was not quite Mountain Ridge's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They took a 73-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sentinels. The Skyhawks have struggled against the Sentinels recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Provo will have to contain Logan Karrasch as he made an impact in Salem Hills' last game. He shot 45% from the field on his way to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Steven Taylor, who went 6-for-14 en route to 14 points.

With the win, Provo broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3. As for Salem Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Provo came up short against Salem Hills in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 69-65. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
