Basketball Game Preview: Baraga Vikings vs. L'Anse Purple Hornets

The Baraga Vikings will take on the L'Anse Purple Hornets in a tournament on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Baraga is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Chassell last Tuesday as Baraga made off with a 72-50 win.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Baraga to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daniel Connor, who on his way to 26 points and six boards. Joseph Fish was another key player, en route to 16 points and five steals.

Baraga was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely L'Anse's strategy against Hancock on Monday. L'Anse strolled past Hancock with points to spare, taking the game 70-52. The Purple Hornets haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

L'Anse's win bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Baraga, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Baraga didn't have too much breathing room in their game against L'Anse in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 57-52 victory. Does Baraga have another victory up their sleeve, or will L'Anse turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
