Basketball Game Preview: McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers vs. Savannah Bluejackets

The McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers will square off against the Savannah Bluejackets at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as McIntosh County Academy comes in on four and Savannah on 15.

McIntosh County Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Greene County by a score of 49-41. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Tigers are ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McIntosh County Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Ellis, who went 7-for-13 en route to 21 points and three steals. Ellis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mj Quarterman, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Savannah was able to grind out a solid victory over Warren County on Friday, taking the game 64-55.

Savannah's record now sits at 26-4. As for McIntosh County Academy, they pushed their record up to 26-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home.

McIntosh County Academy couldn't quite finish off Savannah in their previous meeting back in February and fell 48-45. Can McIntosh County Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
