While Stanton County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out the Southwestern Heights Mustangs 6-5. The victory was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Ian Floyd made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carlos Ramos, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Martinez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Stanton County's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Southwestern Heights, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Mustangs beat Stanton County by a score of 13-12 later that day.
