Softball Game Preview: Gates Chili Spartans vs. Brockport Blue Devils

The Gates Chili Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Brockport Blue Devils at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Nine must be Gates Chili's lucky number: they beat Canandaigua Academy with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Spartans beat the Braves by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-2. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won five in a row.

Brockport hadn't beaten Canandaigua Academy on the road since May 15, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Blue Devils walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Braves. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Blue Devils as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Gates Chili's record now sits at 5-10. As for Brockport, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-10.

Gates Chili took their win against Brockport in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 19-7 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
