Baseball Game Preview: Ruidoso Warriors vs. Dexter Demons

Ruidoso is a perfect 10-0 against Dexter since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Demons at 5:00 p.m. Ruidoso is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

Ruidoso had taken Sandia Prep down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. The Warriors fell just short of the Sundevils by a score of 18-17.

Omar Guerrero was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Ruidoso: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-12 otherwise. Trenton Hall was another key player, going 4-for-6 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Dexter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Melrose, falling 19-6.

Ruidoso's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-13. As for Dexter, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Ruidoso took their victory against Dexter in their previous matchup on April 12th by a conclusive 15-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
