Volleyball Recap: Whiting Victorious

While Whiting's victory against Chicago Washington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Oilers had just enough and edged out the Patriots 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Oilers have posted since August 21, 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Whiting who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-22, 19-25, 26-24.

Liliana Lozano paced Whiting's offense, picking up 12 kills. Lozano got some help from Andrea Cabrales and her 12 assists. Audrina Aponte controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Whiting's record now sits at 4-1. As for Chicago Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Whiting will be playing at home against Illiana Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The match will give the Oilers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Chicago Washington, they will head out to square off against Thornton Fractional North at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
