Baseball Recap: Hopkinsville Has No Trouble Against Heritage Christian Academy

While Hopkinsville put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Heritage Christian Academy. The Tigers put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 10-0 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Joshua ?Deuce? Embrey II tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hopkinsville is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Hopkinsville got a big performance out of Gavin Mitchell, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The Tigers are 2-1 when Mitchell posts two or more stolen bases, but 9-10 otherwise. Dylan Sweeney was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Hopkinsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .062.

The win got Hopkinsville back to even at 11-11. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopkinsville will face off against Christian County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.5, the Colonels 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Community Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
