Soccer Game Preview: Eastern Randolph vs. Asheboro

The Eastern Randolph Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Asheboro Blue Comets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eastern Randolph is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Eastern Randolph fell victim to Wheatmore and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Eastern Randolph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 450th, while Wheatmore are ranked 141st).

Meanwhile, Asheboro kept a clean sheet against Montgomery Central last Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Timberwolves. The win continues a trend for Asheboro in their matchups with Montgomery Central: they've now won seven in a row.

Asheboro's one-goal win came courtesy of Jaira Arellano, who's now up to 16 this season.

Asheboro's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Eastern Randolph, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11-2.
