Preview: Abraham Lincoln Railsplitters vs. Carver High School of Engineering & Science

Two dominant guards in Aldonis Martin and Matthew Mcfield are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Abraham Lincoln Railsplitters will get right back to it and host Carver High School of Engineering & Science at 3:15 p.m. on December 20th. Abraham Lincoln will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Carver High School of Engineering & Science is ranked 134th).

Abraham Lincoln pushed their score all the way to 78 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 90-78 hit to the loss column at the hands of Math Civics & Sciences. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (74), Abraham Lincoln still had to take the loss.

Despite their defeat, Abraham Lincoln saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Malachi Montgomery, who scored 27 points, was perhaps the best of all. The matchup was Montgomery's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Samair Peterson, who scored 22 points.

Meanwhile, Carver High School of Engineering & Science came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 49-39 victory over George Washington.

Carver High School of Engineering & Science found their leader in underclassman Fareed Brown, who scored 25 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Brown scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mcfield, who scored nine points along with three steals.

Abraham Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Carver High School of Engineering & Science, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Fans should be in for an exciting game on Wednesday as both teams are among the highest scoring teams in the league right now. Abraham Lincoln hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 59 points per game. However, it's not like Carver High School of Engineering & Science struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 51.7 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Abraham Lincoln strolled past Carver High School of Engineering & Science in their previous meeting back in February by a score of 72-57. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Carver High School of Engineering & Science's Nile Mosby, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Abraham Lincoln to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
