Baseball Game Preview: London Pirates vs. Goliad Tigers

The London Pirates will take on the Goliad Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with London sitting on three straight victories and Goliad on four.

London saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 10-4 margin over Lytle. The result was nothing new for London, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Alex Manning looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, London got a big performance out of RJ Olivares, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Connor Clary was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

London always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Goliad). They never let Santa Gertrudis Academy get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.

Goliad pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for London, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

London was able to grind out a solid victory over Goliad in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 4-1. Does London have another victory up their sleeve, or will Goliad turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
