Preview: Forest Bearcats vs. Pelahatchie Chiefs
The Forest Bearcats will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Pelahatchie Chiefs at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Forest pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Newton 62-58.
Meanwhile, Pelahatchie had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They breezed by Hillcrest Christian at home to the tune of 54-26. Pelahatchie might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six games by 23 points or more this season.
Forest's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Pelahatchie, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Forest didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Pelahatchie in their previous meeting back in November of 2019, but they still walked away with a 51-46 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Pelahatchie's Wes Anderson, who scored 29 points along with three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Forest to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
