Basketball Game Preview: Hudson Cobras vs. Hernando Christian Academy Lions

The Hudson Cobras will challenge the Hernando Christian Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Hudson and four for Hernando Christian Academy.

Last Thursday, Hudson was beaten by Weeki Wachee 73-37. While losing is never fun, the Cobras can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 566th, while the Hornets are ranked 227th).

Meanwhile, Hernando Christian Academy played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 56-15 loss at the hands of Classical Prep. Hernando Christian Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-11.

Despite the defeat, Hernando Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madison Miguel posted seven points and three steals. Those three steals gave Miguel a new career-high. Grace Pauls was another key player, putting up two points and six rebounds.

Hernando Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Hudson, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Everything came up roses for Hudson against Hernando Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 53-17 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hudson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
