Baseball Game Preview: Los Altos Eagles vs. Mountain View Spartans

The Los Altos Eagles will head out to challenge the Mountain View Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Los Altos is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.

Los Altos took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bellarmine College Prep, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles won by a run and slipped past the Bells 4-3.

Los Altos got a great performance from Anders Wood as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Wood a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Los Altos' win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Moore, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Mountain View's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wilcox on Monday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Los Altos pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.

Los Altos came out on top in a nail-biter against Mountain View when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
