Softball Recap: Midland Park Gets the Win

Midland Park hadn't done well against Emerson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Panthers walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Cavaliers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Julia Henderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abigail Kuhnel, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Heidi Marcus, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Midland Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.

The win got Midland Park back to even at 10-10. As for Emerson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

Coming up, Midland Park will take on Cresskill at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. Emerson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
