Softball Recap: Coolidge Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Coolidge and Santa Cruz Valley, and Santa Cruz Valley kept the tradition alive. Coolidge fell just short of Santa Cruz Valley by a score of 8-7 on Friday. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dust Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Kassidy Mitchell was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kayla Hunt, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Coolidge has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. Santa Cruz Valley now has a winning record of 2-1.

Coolidge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 21-2 victory against Apache Junction on the 18th. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they have also already played their next game, a 10-0 win against Camp Verde on the 18th.
