Football Game Preview: Pinnacle Pioneers vs. Salpointe Catholic Lancers + How To Watch

The Pinnacle Pioneers will square off against the Salpointe Catholic Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinnacle's defense has only allowed 14.9 points per game this season, so Salpointe Catholic's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Pinnacle is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Chandler, who was ranked fourth at the time (Pinnacle was ranked ninth). The Pioneers took a 28-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves on Friday. The Pioneers have struggled against the Wolves recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

The losing side was boosted by Jackson Reader, who threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 61 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Salpointe Catholic was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They lost to Perry at home by a 21-7 margin.

Pinnacle will have to contain Chris Chaney as he made an impact in Salpointe Catholic's last game. He rushed for 97 yards and one score.

Salpointe Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Van Birchak and Jake Bondi. Birchak also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Another thorn in Perry's side was Bryan Melton, who made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Pinnacle's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Salpointe Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Pinnacle beat Salpointe Catholic 28-21 when the teams last played back in October of 2021. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Lancers' Treyson Bourguet, who rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 168 yards and one TD.
