Soccer Recap: Torrey Pines Extends Winning Streak to Four

On WednesdayRancho Buena Vista kept up with Torrey Pines until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. The Torrey Pines Falcons put the hurt on the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns with a sharp 5-2 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Falcons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Longhorns are ranked 65th).

The win was the fourth in a row for Torrey Pines, bringing their record for this year to 8-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those four matches. As for Rancho Buena Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.

Looking ahead, Torrey Pines will venture away from home to square off against Oceanside on Friday. Torrey Pines knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Oceanside likes a good challenge. As for Rancho Buena Vista, they will be playing at home against San Dieguito Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. San Dieguito Academy's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
