Softball Recap: Mercy McAuley Comes Up Short

If Mercy McAuley was feeling good fresh off their 19-5 takedown of Reading on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mercy McAuley fell just short of the Sycamore Aviators by a score of 11-10 on Wednesday.

Olivia Olding stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored a run while going 3-for-5. Kara Doenges was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Even though they lost, Mercy McAuley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .421 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Mercy McAuley's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Sycamore, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Mercy McAuley will host Goshen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sycamore, they will head out to square off against Ursuline Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
