Shawnee Mission Northwest came tearing into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Olathe South Falcons 71-43. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Falcons are ranked 34th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shawnee Mission Northwest's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.6 points over those games. As for Olathe South, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-7-1.
