Baseball Recap: Grace Academy Takes a Loss

Grace Academy was the 3-2 winner over GVCS Broadfording when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Knights fell 7-4 to the Lions on Thursday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grace Academy got a good showing from Austin Sweeney, who struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The Knights are 2-1 when Sweeney allows one or fewer hits, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Michael Berry was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 3-3. As for GVCS Broadfording, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Brunswick at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Railroaders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for GVCS Broadfording, they will challenge Cumberland Valley Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
