Softball Recap: Gulf Shores Wins Going Away Against Demopolis

Gulf Shores never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past the Demopolis Tigers 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Dolphins, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Anna Leigh Price and Madi Nelson made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Price pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Nelson didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Price went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Nelson scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Price has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Gulf Shores got a massive performance out of Neaveh James, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave James a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Anayia McCutchen, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-3.

Gulf Shores always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Gulf Shores and bumps their season record up to 13-9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Demopolis, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
