Softball Recap: Central Dragons vs. Bald Eagle Area Eagles
Central had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-11 to make it four. They came up short against the Bald Eagle Area Eagles, falling 7-1. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Kensinger, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Bald Eagle Area, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Bald Eagle Area's side, Sierra Albright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. Albright has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Alexa Baney and Taylor Habovick did most of the damage at the plate: Baney went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Habovick went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Baney a new career-high. Macey Guenot also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will venture away from home to square off against Penn Cambria at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dragons are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bald Eagle Area, they will face off against Somerset at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
