Football Recap: Centennial Bulldogs vs. Galena Grizzlies
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Centennial had no problem doing just that on Monday. They walked away with a 24-15 victory over the Galena Grizzlies. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Khy Harris was his usual excellent self, rushing for 204 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. Centennial also got a significant boost from Kolten Silbernagel, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.
Centennial didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jhbari Christmas and Shaje Silva. Christmas also made four total tackles, which is notable because Centennial is 4-1 when he posts at least three total tackles, but 3-4 otherwise.
Centennial was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 298 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Galena's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Colson Kermode, who threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns, and Ben Imse, who picked up 87 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Centennial is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.4 points per game. As for Galena, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3.
As of now, neither Centennial nor Galena have any future games scheduled.
