Preview: Union Spartans vs. North Duplin Rebels
The Union Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the North Duplin Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Union suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Rosewood 58-17.
Even though North Duplin has not done well against Lakewood recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. North Duplin was the clear victor by a 71-48 margin over Lakewood. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory North Duplin has posted since December 8, 2023.
North Duplin can attribute much of their success to Donavan Armwood, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dujuan Armwood, who scored 12 points.
Union bumped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.8 points per game. As for North Duplin, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.
Union was taken down by North Duplin 75-45 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Union, Richard Noble (who scored 16 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
