Baseball Recap: Grant Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Grant dropped their record down to 7-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Montague Wildcats by a score of 5-4. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Owen Chesebro was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Booth, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Montague, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games.

On Montague's side, Conner McKeown looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. McKeown also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Wildcats are undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Cooper Bradley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Jack Degan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

While Grant had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
