Baseball Game Preview: Sheldon Huskies vs. Franklin Wildcats

For the second straight game, Sheldon will face off against Franklin. The Huskies will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sheldon has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Franklin will arrive with five straight victories.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Sheldon's offense. They came up short against Franklin on Wednesday, falling 10-0.

For Franklin's part, they got a great performance from Kyle Pott as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Pott a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Dylan Minnatee was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Royal McKinney, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Franklin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sheldon only posted a batting average of .000.

Franklin pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Sheldon, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
