Recap: Troy-Buchanan Trojans vs. Clopton Hawks
The Troy-Buchanan Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Clopton with a sharp 53-31 victory on Thursday. Given Troy-Buchanan's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Clopton is ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clopton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ashlyn Noah , who scored eight points along with nine rebounds, and Braya Smith who scored 11 points. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Troy-Buchanan's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Clopton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
Troy-Buchanan will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Cor Jesu Academy. Cor Jesu Academy is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Clopton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fort Zumwalt East at 2:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Fort Zumwalt East will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
