The East Wake Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Wakefield Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in East Wake Academy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
East Wake Academy's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 19-0 margin over Neuse Charter. Fans of the Eagles have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Jordan Fuentes made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Fuentes was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Weston Dixon, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jordan Driver was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
East Wake Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .581 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wakefield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They skirted past Falls Lake 4-2.
Wakefield's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Eli Gross, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Another was Thomas Piscorik, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Wakefield now has a winning record of 2-1. As for East Wake Academy, their record is now 3-0.
East Wake Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. East Wake Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Wakefield, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will East Wake Academy continue to outrun the ball?
East Wake Academy might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Wakefield when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can East Wake Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
