Volleyball Recap: Atwater Comes Up Short

Atwater managed to slip by El Capitan the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Atwater lost 3-0 to El Capitan on Thursday. That makes it the first time this season the Falcons have let down their home crowd.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-15, 25-10.

Loss or not, Atwater got some senior leadership from Damien Pulido and Isaac Avila Elizalde. Pulido had 16 digs and two aces, while Avila Elizalde had 19 assists and four digs. Pulido is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least 13 every time he's taken the court this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Atwater and nudges their season record down to 9-9. As for El Capitan, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Atwater wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Golden Valley on the 25th. As for El Capitan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Lodi on the 22nd.
