Softball Recap: Roseville Victorious

Roseville won the last time they faced River Valley and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Falcons 4-2.

Alyssa MacFarlane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Isabella Senini was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Angela Martinez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Roseville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Roseville now has a winning record of 10-9. As for River Valley, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roseville will face off against Del Campo at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.79 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for River Valley, they will square off against Yuba City at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Honkers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
