Basketball Recap: Crest Ridge Piles Up the Points Against Leeton

While Crest Ridge didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They really took it to the Leeton Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-28 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 27 points or more this season.

Kayley Marten was nothing short of spectacular: she dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brilynn Fleming, who posted 14 points along with six assists and six boards.

Crest Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

Crest Ridge pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Leeton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Crest Ridge and Concordia will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Leeton, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Macks Creek at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Macks Creek will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Leeton surely won't give up without a fight.
