Softball Recap: Allegheny-Clarion Valley Comes Up Short

If Allegheny-Clarion Valley was feeling good fresh off their 10-3 takedown of West Middlesex last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Falcons came up short against the Moniteau Warriors on Wednesday, falling 16-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 15-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.

Lillian Hayden was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kya Wetzel, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Allegheny-Clarion Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Moniteau, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Allegheny-Clarion Valley will challenge East Forest at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Moniteau, they will square off against Keystone at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.71 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
