Baseball Game Preview: Saugus Centurions vs. Oakwood Owls

The Saugus Centurions will square off against the Oakwood Owls at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Tuesday, Saugus didn't have quite enough to beat Muir and fell 4-3.

Ming Lee was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Matt Long was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Abraham Ramirez was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Oakwood's offense. They came up short against La Canada on Friday, falling 12-0. The Owls' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Oakwood's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Saugus, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-7.
