Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Deep Run

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Deep Run nor King William made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Cavaliers. The Wildcats' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Hope Tate made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Braelyn Baulsir was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Brooke Black was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run.

Deep Run was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Deep Run's record now sits at 3-0. As for King William, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deep Run will square off against Godwin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for King William, they will face off against Patrick Henry at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
