Wolfe City waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Campbell Indians a 17-0 shutout. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Hylee Crowell made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Lyric Sandlin was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Guiette, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Wolfe City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Campbell only posted an OBP of .385.
Wolfe City's record now sits at 14-9-1. As for Campbell, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Wolfe City will face off against rival Saltillo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Campbell is set to challenge their familiar foe Cooper at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
