Baseball Recap: Forest Hills Northern Now 10-3 over Last 13 Games

Forest Hills Northern not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30th (when they won 15-0). They blew past the Christian Eagles 6-0. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Cory Smiewec, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Christian off the board. Smiewec is becoming a predictor of Forest Hills Northern's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Justin St. Antoine was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Tiedgen, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Forest Hills Northern is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Christian, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Forest Hills Northern and Christian could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Huskies (ranked 144th) will meet Byron Center (ranked 36th) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Christian will take on Hudsonville at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (325 vs. 13).
